Synergi are recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to join a well-known Waste Management company based in South Kirkby, Wakefield. The successful Laboratory Assistant will join on a 6-month fixed term contract, with a high possibility of the role turning permanent at the end of the 6 months.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine sample taking and on-site laboratory analysis following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Record keeping, data collation and input to the laboratory data base.
  • To assist the Laboratory Manager with be-spoke research and process development work.
  • Calibration of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Laboratory housekeeping and stock control.
  • To follow Company Health & Safety procedures in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
  • Carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks that the Company may require.

Training / Qualifications

Essential:

  • GCSE or equivalent in a science subject, maths and English.
  • Computer literate and basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of health & safety.

Desirable:

  • Recent experience in a laboratory and/or an industrial plant environment.
  • Understanding of health & safety in a laboratory and/or an industrial plant environment.
  • Basic knowledge of waste industry.

Experience/competencies required:

  • Good organisational skills with a methodical approach to work, preferably from a laboratory-based background.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and constructive attitude towards solving problems.

Salary: £23,414 P/A

Location: South Kirkby

Shifts: Days
